Spring Campout

The weekend of April 26–28 was pure bliss for Trailmen as we headed up to the North-west part of Rhode Island to George Washington Campground in Chepachet. We couldn’t have asked for better weather as we pitched our tents and soaked in the surrounding camp air.

The campout kicked off on Friday evening with our opening campfire where leaders led skits, songs, and even a bear story! On Saturday morning, we opened with a flag ceremony and then learned a little about map skills. The Troop then set off on a 1.6 mile hike where we saw lots of nature objectless and head great discussion of the Trail.

After lunch and a bit of a rest, Trailmen participated in an emergency shelter building competition building shelters and even trying to start fire without the use of matches or a lighter. Dinner was spent together as a Troop with burgers and dogs. The evening then closed with the Trailmen then sharing songs and skits in the closing campfire.
