Fall Hike-a-thon Troop Fundraiser

To help pay for activity fees and supplies, awards, and our charter fee, we’re holding our first Troop fundraiser hike-a-thon. It’s simple—decide how far you want to hike, collect pledges, and then hike! Funds raised will go to our Troop to help us cover the cost of activities for the year and to buy some new Troop equipment.

How to participate

  1. Register to be a participant in the fundraiser here1: ri1798.com/fundraiser
  2. Decide how you want to participate. You can either hike on your own or join in the next Troop hike on Dec 7.
  3. Share your profile with friends, family, and others who will be able to support you. Suggested pledge amount is $20 per hiked mile, but feel free to have fun with a little negotiation!
    • Pledgers can use their debit card to pledge directly on the form2. Cash and checks3 should be passed to a Troop leader.
  4. Traimen can choose awards for the number of miles hiked based on their Unit Level (Fox, Hawk, etc.).

Q&A

Who can participate?
Any Trailman who is officially registered with the Troop can participate.

Can I raise funds to be used for myself?
Funds raised are put into the general Troop account and are used for the general good of every Trailman. Individual Trailman “accounts” are not allowed.

Why do we hike in the cold weather?
Just because it’s getting to be cold season doesn’t mean we have to put our hiking boots away. Hiking in the cold can be fun! Be sure to dress in layers and bring extra gear, just in case. It’s also highly recommended you carry an emergency blanket or other shelter just in case.

If I hike 7 miles, can I choose a prize from the “2+ mile prizes”?
Yes, of course!
