Welcome back! I’m so excited to be kicking off our third year as a Troop. I want to make sure that all of our Trailmen and their families are able to get the most out of their experience with the Troop. This blog outlines some of the new and noteworthy taking place around the Troop.

We’ve decided to change our meeting day to Tuesdays. Over the past two years, we’ve had a lot of families tell us that Thursdays are tight and they chose other activities over Trail Life. We are praying that having our meeting on Tuesdays will help open up the schedule for more families to be a part of our Troop.
New uniform requirements
Pants
Trailmen will be required to wear grey or green pants with the formal Troop Uniform. This is to ensure that we have a clean uniform look throughout the Troop.
Dads wear the uniform, too
Dads are strongly encouraged to purchase and wear the Troop Uniform shirt during meetings as well as become a Registered Adult in order to help fulfill the 2-deep leadership requirements needed at all Trail Life functions.
New Troop Trail Uniform
The Troop now has Trail Uniforms available for purchase from the Troop uniform store. It features our Troop number as well as the Rhode Island anchor.
New flag ceremony configuration
Dads in line
Trail Life is for dads as well as sons, that much is for sure. Dads will now be required to stand behind Trailmen during the opening and closing flag ceremonies. No more sitting on the side line, dad!
Monthly service patrol
One of the patrols will be responsible for the flag ceremony each month. If it’s your patrol’s month, be sure to arrive at least ten minutes early to practice.
Communication
Meeting communication will now come from the Trail Guide your Trailman is a part of. They will send it out several days before the meeting to tell you the topic and the step. After the meeting, your Trail Guide will give instructions on the family portion of the step.
Attendance requirements
Visitors
Non-Registered Adults will now be required to wear the Visitor lanyard.
Navs/Adv logging attendance
Navigators and Adventurers Trailmen will be required to self-log their attendance. After the meeting, Trailmen will need to log on to Trail Life Connect and indicate that they were present at the meeting. Navigators and Adventurers can also self-log activities they do on their own, such as camping nights and Servant Service hours.
