We’ve just completed our second year as a Troop, and what an exciting year it was!
Some notable events
We started our Navigators program. Although small, we got a lot done, including going on a 7-miler as well as building our Kodiak Derby sled. We also covered the material for 5 Trail Badges—Woods Tools, Camping, Rope Work, Our Flag, and Fire Ranger.
We did lots of camping. Our fall camping trip was like none other, and we had a lot of fun learning new skills and challenging ourselves. During the winter overnighter, we learned a lot more outdoor skills. And our spring camping trip proved that we can camp in the rain!
We built stuff. We made a Kodiak derby sled as well as cars for the Pinewood Grand Prix.
Hopes for next year
I’m looking forward to growing our Navigators unit so that we can properly utilize the patrol method and develop leadership skills. To do this, I want our Troop to:
- Serve the community more—let’s get our name out there by actually doing what we say… serving like Jesus served.
- Being more adventurous—let’s do more of what we’re all about… outdoor adventure. This year, we went on 3 campouts. Next year, can we make it 6?
- Strive to honor our oath—every week, we remind ourselves by saying the Trailman oath. Next year, I want to see Trailmen practicing this through more advancement, more Worthy Life awards being earned, and more serving our families and our churches.
